I have Nero Ultra 6 on my computer and it was working fine. I didn't use it for a little while for a couple of months and now when Igo to use it it can't burn discs. It lets me put a cd in and then select the files I want to add to it. It will even tell me if their is other sessions already on it, which is all fine. But then when it actually goes to burn, it tells me that the CD is being used by some other application.
Does anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it?
Its strange because its reading the CD perfectly for every other step so there is obviously nothing wrong with the drive (plus it works fine with ever other program). But as soon as you go to Burn a disc, it plays up.

Probably a Nero driver issue.
Try upgrading--there's a new release just about every month and there was a pretty significant one recently. The upgrade code will check your setup for you.
There's also a Nero Info Tool which will show you status of drivers and your CD capabilities. It's on the menu "Nero Toolkit", but I don't recall if that's installed by default.
I think you can also get to i via the Nero Smartstart menu under Extras. |

Are you sure you haven't selected a disk that already has data on it?

Nope they are discs from my spindle so are brand new, plus i should be able to burn multi seasons anyway.
Its also happening for both cd and dvd which is strange.

| Are you logged on as an admin on you computer? If not nero won't let you burn discs. |

I don't have multi users set up.
Its strange though because it used to work just fine and now suddenly it doesn't. I have tried stripping the program off the computer (including registers) but that failed as well.

I couldn't find the upgrade. (Plus I am actually not on that computer at the moment since I am at work) I went to the nero site but i didn't see anything, plus the site was in German. Is the upgrade on that or can I access it through the application?

| My nero has, in the past, done similar things. Usually it says that it cant burn or its encountered errors . Ive found that restarting my computer solves this problem for me. If this doesnt work, try reinstalling the program. |

Thanks.
Unfortunatly neither has worked for me.
I also re installed the drivers for the drive, just in case, but that hasn't done anything either. It seems that the prgram is damaged somehow, so tis weird.

Did you install any new software or anything? It's odd that it would stop working until you installed updates. |

Yeah it is odd. I know we did a big clean out of other programs on my computer (stuff that is never used and just wastes space) and I think that this possibly effected it (corrupted by something else). Its a computer and these things happen lol But as long as its working again I am happy.

Not odd at all It happens almost everytime I get on someones computer that has had this installed a while back. When you install certain Windows updates it causes compatability issues with Nero. It's not hard to fix, as you all seem to have found out. Just a software update fixes it.
