Just wanted to share, really looking forward to it : I am going to do a photography study at the photo academy in Amsterdam, Holland.

I had an interview last Monday, showed a portfolio of approx. 20 images, did some test to see whether I met knowledge criteria and was accepted. Great, I hope this really will develop me further, the study is very much focussing on developing a style, a vision.

It is study with a workload of approx. 12 hours a week, during 4 years, which is aimed at developing people into a professional photographers, for example journalist, fashion, commercial advertising or independant artist. During those 4 years there is plenty of opportunity to try out all kinds of different aspects. Each year will become more specialised. Mentoring is from professional photographers.

Initial comment on my portfolio was that the images are very much according to the classic rules, like rule of thirds. During the interview I also received some specific comments on specific images as well. Very valuable, if those comments are indicative of what is going to come over the next years ..... whatch this space.... going to improve .... going to break some rules....

Shame the site doesn't offer an English language version of their pages as I'd love to find out more about the path you're starting upon, Willem.

It certainly sounds valuable and fun too.

Would you be willing to give an indication of prices, they are probably on the website but I can't understand/ navigate it.

Yes, agree, I would expect an English version as well.

Price depends on intensity of mentoring. They have a study with a full day per week mentoring, a part of the day/saturday (4hr), or an evening (2hr). I choose the evening variant because that one is most easiest to combine with my full time job and family life (and still will require careful planning).
That price is 2675 Euro per year, which is about 50 Euro per week. A lot of money but on the other hand, considering the mentoring and full use of all their equipment, a fair price.
More info on prices here and then click "meerjarige opleidingen".

I agree it's quite a lot of money but hopefully will be very worthwhile for you and help you take your photography to a whole new level.

Best of luck with it!
