I don't want to rant, but shouldn't it be assumed or at least give people the benefit of the doubt that a shot they enter in the PINK challenge would in fact be pink in color?? I've received 3 comments now saying that my shot looked another color. Take my work for it....it's pink! |

Is it possible that your monitor is not calibrated properly? If multiple people are saying that it looks like another color, there might be something to it. |

If it's the entry that I think it is... It looks purple to me! Daveit is right... You may want to take a look at your entry from another monitor.

I'm in the same boat.
But I did check on two different computers. And a number of online friends saw the photo before I entered it and none of them saw something other than pink.
I sympathize with you. I think these ultra-strict guidelines of what constitutes pink that people are setting are ridiculous. There's a range from salmon to magenta. It's not all bubblegum colored!!! |

Look at it from the voter's perspective; according to the guidelines, if they don't see "pink" it doesn't meet the challenge. But nobody told them what "pink" is. So what we're gonna see is a voting breakdown that, among other things, clarifies different peoples' ideas of what pink is.
Naturally enough, the voters are not too interested in whether YOU think your picture is pink or not; presumably you do, or you wouldn't submit it. They are concerend with whether THEY think it's pink. And with whether pink is the "primary" color in the image, for that matter. In many cases I have voted on, it is not, IMO.
I had "better" versions of my image that operated on the assumption that a pastellish magenta color is "pink" (these were more striking) but I decided, probably correctly based on what I've seen in these threads) that this would get deducted from for being "not pink", and submitted a warmer, truer pink version.
This version isn't doing very well, unfortunately, but at least it's not for lack of pink.
Robt.

Pink is a broad color... it encompasses shades from the edges of coral and peach to magenta and fuschia. Pink is not necessarily the powderpuff-baby girl-traditional color you see in print ads and commercials. I wish people could have a more open mind about this, but as we have all come to know, that will NEVER happen. I'm voting "as if" and I know I'm not the only one. ;o)

I haven't been voting down for "not being pink" if it's very close to pink, I think it qualifies. But as previously mentioned by others... it's really up to the VOTER to decide if it "qualifies" or not.
I'm not sure why my image isn't doing so well... I'm at a 4.6 and I thought it was one of my best. Much better than my currently highest rated photos! But I guess the voters don't think so! It's definatly not because it's "not pink". I played it safe and submit something VERY pink.
Anyway... thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I would agree that yes indeed pink can vary somewhat. However, having said that,,,,,,,orange is not pink, nor is red, purple, mauve and a bevy of other colours.
Similarly,,, a smidgen of pink (or variation thereof) in a tableau of assorted vivid colours is not in keeping with the "primary" factor alluded to in the challenge guidelines.
These are some of the issues I took into consideration while voting, albeit not the primary ones.
