Here are a couple scanned birds from by Nikon FE, Tokina 300mm, Fujichrome 100 taken in the late 80s.

My first attemp at panning. chased this guy for several weeks.
oh ya, not a good pic as far qualify, it was my first month shooting, here it is about a year later, lot more work to be done.

About 7 of us DPC'rs went to the national Aviary in Pittsburgh last week. I like this shot, the bokeh, the light and dark...
