Gorgeous colours. I like the dark background to make him stand out further. Thanks so much for your comment.

Wow this one is amazing! Beautiful colors, great details and I love the somewhat shallow DOF because it makes the feathers on the body of the bird look like they're painted.
I also like the not-comlpetely-dark background.
In the blue challenge I would probably give this one a 6 or 7 because the blue is not what catches my eye. but in a more "fitting" challenge I would score this one a perfect 10.

But a shot like this is taken with the minimum aperture. In this manner the feathers will also be in focus. Always notate the aperture in which a picture is taken because you will get a feeling for the variation in focus. Then when you get a better camera you will have a working knowledge of what certain apertures do. Otherwise, the image is wonderful and is a worthy addition to your port. It is good enough for my favs. Good luck.

Once again thatnk you so much for your wonderful critique of my work and the time you take to help teach.

My brother and I (indianzfan) both took shots of this great bird at the Cleveland Zoo, he entered his picturein the blue challenge, we didnt want two shots of the same bird, so I didnt enter with this. I'd love to get some feedback on my shot of the bird. Thanks.
