As most of you know, I am a counselor by profession and work with pregnant and parenting teens. I've recently been doing some research on photo therapy technique, and am plannig to start a group with the students whom I serve. I wondered if any of you were familiar with photo therapy, and if you aren't you might take the time to look at some of the creative ways that photography is used to help people heal and grow. I am so excited about learning the techniques and skills associated with it, and to start working with my students. Being able to combine the two things that mean so much to me will be such a wonderful gift.
I wanted to share this site with you for basic information, and this one as an amazing example of how the two worlds of therapy and photography can be combined. I was blown away by the work and the healing that can take place through photography. Maybe this is why I love this hobby so much!

Laurie
There was a photographer here in Colorado that was working with children with cancer from, I think it was, Children's Hospital. She was doing exciting things and getting great results with the kids. I can't find her listed on their site but I'll keep looking.
We also have several Alzheimer's centers that are working with the families to build scrapbook for their family members. Looking at old photos triggers a high response. Can't remember yesterday but can remember 40 years ago.
