Sounds a lot like the one he gave me- but he called mine one of his top picks. Ha ha :P

Kidding. We should all be proud.

Skip, that's an incredible feat. Very well done. I really appreciate the comment you left on my image. It is very flattering. Not only was the comment nice but it was lengthy, detailed, and you obviously studied the image before speaking. Thanks so much! I'm very thankful.

I am so glad you started this thread! When I read your comment on my entry I immediately wanted to PM you a great big thank you. I didn't though because I know that is frowned upon.

Your comment was so encouraging and truly brightened my spirits :) You reacted to my photo the same way *I* react to it and that means a great deal to me!

I'm finding it hard to just vote on all the entries, much less comment on even a small portion of them, so I know you sacrificed a great deal of your free time for this. It looks like lots of people appreciated your effort, and I'm just one of the many :)

Well, the honourable Skip seems to like my photo more than most other voters, and just enjoyed sitting and looking at it. (Oh, maybe he said that for everyone`s photo...)

Thanks, again!!!

you'll have to wait until the challenge is over to read them all ;-)

And as much as I appreciate comments (because they really have made a world of difference to me), I'd like offer the following:

1) I realize it's not perfect, but to echo Kavey's sentiments from another thread, do check off the helpful box on a comment, if just to let the commenter know you read the comment.

2) If someone doesn't want PMs during a challenge, they should either put a bag over their head, or put a note in their bio. I for one, don't mind them at all.

3) As much as I like love getting comments, I would encourage you to find a little extra time to go back through the Best of challenge and take a hard look at anything you scored a 4 or 5. If you really feel that is what it is, then that's what it is...but I'm sure if you look a little more closely, you'll see some of the magic that made me want to pause and reflect on so many of these images!

I've already pm'ed you with my thanks, as you know, but I wanted to say thanks again for your comment.
I'd been feeling particularly frustrated and full of hatred (;-)) after someone left me a 2 and told me in a lovely one word comment why, and your comment completely negated that and made me feel like I wasn't complete crap after all. It's funny how you can have 20-something positive comments yet that one nasty one can overwhelm everything good you feel (I'm not talking criticisms of my work, I'm quite open to that, it was the tone in this one). Maybe the commenter was just in a bad mood, but I was feeling quite bad and you made me feel wonderful again. I have no idea what score you gave me, but thanks just for being positive and friendly. It must have been exhausting for you! :-D

Holy Cow!
I thought I was doing OK on this one with 72 commented on (so far).
I tip my hat!

Seemed like a good idea so I tried at least to provide some thoughts on a few. It is certainly a great way to reflect on things you'd do differently and can do differently in the future. Best way to learn for the commentor...

Just wanted to thank you for your comment.
I try to vote for all the photos as often as I can (especially if I entered). But commenting on over 500 - that's truly an amazing feat!

Wow...Thanks, Gordon! I really appreciate the eye you turned on my images! Those are some really, really great suggestions!

Actually, that's not entirely what I said. I observed that people use the Helpful feature in different ways. Some mark all comments received as Helpful as a way of thanking the commenter for their time. Some mark only those comments that they feel give them some constructive advice that they can use to improve future work as Helpful. Some mark only comments that praise their photo as Helpful even where other comments might be more constructive. And some don't use the feature at all.

What I said was that ALL are valid choices but that I personally tend to mark NEARLY all comments I receive as Helpful because I appreciate the insight they give me into voter reactions, even if there's no specific advice included or I don't agree with their assessment.

Anyway... my reason for bringing up that observation at all was that I wanted people to know how varied the use of the feature was as well as the fact that it wasn't around in the early days so many of us made hundreds of comments that were not marked as Helpful back then.

So anyway, I wanted to thank you for your efforts. When I first joined I used to comment every image in any challenge I voted in and it was a huge task even then, when entry numbers were lower.

No mean feat!

And lastly, on a personal note, thank you for your comment on my entry. Very uplifting. Made my day.

Can't wait for your visit in a few weeks time!

You are welcome. Now all you need are the other 528 people in the challenge to comment on a few of your pictures :) Glad you found some of the suggestions I made useful or interesting.

Skip and Anders (samtrundle) - you have my respect. I've only just managed to finish voting on all 530. What you've done is unreal.

Well, looks like I'm not going to make it.
I obviously don't have the time to spare that some have, and applaud anyone that did comment on all/most.

Stats:
You have rated 530 of 531 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 237 250 images (45%) 47% in this challenge.

well, i'm not quite sure what to make of this...

on one hand, i sincerely applaud your effort!!! and i'm also selfishly glad to finished ahead of you at something for once ;-)

on the other, i have a feeling this effort will have done more for you than stealing the icelandic blueprints, as if you needed any more help.

great job, brad!

Hehehe - this is likely the only time in the near future I'll beat bradP at anything DPC related!

VERY doubtful.
The WOW factor isn't doing it for me, and am looking to please me first. My Best of 2004 (6.465), Three (5.6879) and Old & New (5.5437) reflect that.
Gonna' let the ribbon row collect dust for now.

I think it's amazing that you did this and just wanted to say thank you! Your comment to my photo was very kind, and very appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to stop and reflect a bit on my entry. :) And thanks for doing the same for everyone!
