Since i recently got a Rebel, i went looking for groups that 'specialize' in that or Canon cameras in the hopes of learning something new. I found a group on Yahoo Groups. I posted a response there and it was denied - see below.
Apparently the consider DPC to be too pornographic for their tastes! Unreal.
I just had to vent. They didn't warn me that they are the right hand of the moral mojority!
The image i linked to:

I don't see anything wrong with their response. It's their own perogative to uphold their site content if not commendable. If they're not allowing "adult content" (which is definetly NOT the same as calling DPC a porno site) that's fine. I don't see why you'd be upset?
Your shot doesn't contain adult content but DPC does.
P.S. I should add that it's been debated many times what should be allowed in the way of nudity here. Some stuff does look more like pornography than just art.

I suppose it comes from the fact i moderte a few yahoogroups and am a member of 8 or 10 more. I have seen the 'adult content' postings - they all go to porn sites, are 99% advertising/spam in nature. I now feel like i have been put into this category!
I feel that they have put DPC into that category.
I am insulted. You should be too.
It is not as if i posted my Movie Title pic or other borderline image. Go to the link i gave them - there is nothing on that page, no links, no thumbnails, no ads that are of an 'adult nature'.
I bet i can find 'dirty' pics on their site - or at least as they say 'links to'. The web is links.

Our web content filtering at work will not let me onto dpc. It comes back with a "adult - nudity" reason. We do have nude galleries on dpc, so I can accept this (also, I can't really honestly argue that I need to be on dpc at work :) I certainly wouldn't think of dpc as a porn site, but if they have filters looking for any nudity, I can understand the reasoning. |

Based on that theory, then stay out of art galleries, museums and of the rock radio stations, and don't watch the news - there might be nudity, drugs portrayed, sex or innuendo, death, blood etc. I am not being very eloquent, but you get my point.
If everyone is so afraid of their shadow, then they need to keep their head in the sand and stay off the net.

I think you need to chill out. LOL. Again, nothing in their response said anything about pornography and wasn't accusational. It was a general message they probably send out to a lot of people and sites. That's completely up to them, if I were the admins, personally, I'd do the same thing if there was no age limit on my site. Dude, you can't force people to have the same views as you..putting words in their mouth won't help your plight either. |

DPC is banned by my work filters too. I assume my employers just buy a list from somewhere, so I think DPC is probably blocked at a lot of places. |

DPC was blocked at the community college where I work for "lingerie, nudity." I suspect it is something like that.
I simply emailed the techies, told them that this is a site I use when I teach digi photography to Adult High School students, and needed it unblocked. No problem. Except when I click "logout," then I get the lingerie, nudity" page again. :-)
Am I insulted that DPC is lumped together with "other" sites. Nah. Each site "owner" can do as they please, and if they want to block DPC, that is okay -- there is nudity here, and some of it in my opinion, could be considered erotic, I guess.

I work as an engineer at a manufacturing plant. Our blocking syetem is harsh I can't even check my hotmail. Yet much to my enjoyment DPC gets through without a hitch.

Same here. just to be safe I check the hide nude photo's box so someone doesn't look over my shoulder, catch a glimpse of a nipple, and run to HR saying they are offended...
It stinks to be grouped with the porno sites, but if people want to find girly pictures they can find them here. Based on the views stats, a lot of people do...

dpc is considered to have "adult content" not pornography. I think there's a difference.
But, if I had young kids who came across the nude fetish shots on here, I'd probably be p-o'd. I |

Even if the subject will find lots of viewers, I certainly would not want to discredit the work of these photographers. Most of those shots (nudes) are simply awsome, and nude photography does require technique.

my school blocks this site. Until my school decided to fire a bunch of teachers and hire an IT, the filter was easy to navigate around, but now, no luck. :(

Wensense categorizes DPChallenge as "hobbies," and the company I work for blocks that category.
