What are your thought about this picture. Better in b/w or color?

B/W rendition works best for me. Enhances the subject, atmosphere and feeling of movement in the image. |

I like color, the kids seem to stand out more against the background.

I find the background colors distracting. Like the B/W |

Just a suggestion but remember I am not a pro at this stuff by any means. Can you make the kid in color and the rest b/w. I would like to see it like that. Just wondering how it would look.

Hi Arni...
This is a good example of where either mode works equally well, but with different results. I love black and white, and this photo is a nice example of a strong b/w. I like everything about your processing choices and composition/theme. The color version has a wonderful 'cold' feeling to it. I believe the color enhances that element very well. If it was my decision on which photo to use, I would weigh the merit of action versus cold and make my decision based on that. If your objective is to show 'cold' then the color version is the best choice in my opinion. For any other reason, I would choose the b/w.

I personally prefer the coloured version, but if I would only see the black and white version without seing the colour version I would like it just as it is as well |

I think I like the bw picture better. But I put the Color version into the Photopool at the newspaper I work for. Think they will like the colored one better :) But the bw will go into my Pool. |

B & W... (in fact, I've already selected it as a favorite)... it emphasizes the shapes and motion better, I think.

I think the color is the better of the two. The B&W lets the kids and the ball blend, or fade, into the background too much, changing the shot's point of interest. In the color the emphasis in much more focused on the foreground kids & ball. The B&W feels more like a scenic where the kids & ball are incidental.

I like both. I took the color image into PS and turned down the saturation level of the Cyans and the Yellows all the way and the Reds by -60 and the Blues by -50. This is a cross between the two images which adds the drama of the B/W while still leaving some natural looking skin tones, the coldness of the blue and the attractive blue feature of the boys hat.
Just a thought.

B/W
In my opinion the colour gives more prominence to the building in the background than it merits. Black and white better focuses my attention on the foreground players.

I'd love to see a version with the two kids & the ball in color, with the rest of the image desaturated. Between the two versions presented, I like the B&W. |

I like the BW version. It makes the kid in the light colored shirt jump out dramatically. |
