I'm thinking about joining DPC sothat I can put some of my photos up on DPCPrints, and I'm curious if you think it would be worth it. Here's a small portfolio of pics. I'm curious, do you think that they would sell, and more importantly, do you think you personally would be interested in buying any?
Thanky you very much in advance four your helpMy Shutterstock Gallery

That tiger one is pretty good as well as the sailboat one as far as appealing to a large audience would go for prints anyway. Whether someone would buy them or not, I don't know. You'd really have to market and advertise your portfolio and get a lot of traffic.
If someone was on the internet looking for a print of a tiger, I see no reason why they wouldn't buy yours. I'm just not sure how many people that would find your portfolio would be looking for a print of a tiger -- know what I mean?

I personally would purchase the sail photo and both palm tree photos. |

I hope you do join Mark, I like your work. I don't have any prints for sale at DPCPrints, so am not speaking from first hand experience. You may get a few orders but don't get your hopes up for lots of sales to other dpc community members. We are a community of photographers and many of us are print sellers ourselves. We probably wouldn't rate very well as a community of print buyers. Marketing your DPCPrints portfolio to people outside this relatively small group is a must if you want to sell a lot of prints.

I've made more from ShutterStock then DPCPrints. Of course I have more loaded up at ShutterStock. With the new increase in space here I plan to upload more at DPCprints this year.

I think you need to pay a little more attention to exposure timings and/or post-processing. A lot of those pics seem to have blown highlights and/or too dark shadows, even the apparently studio/home shot wingnuts.
Also, a little more care in preparation of images for web publishing probably is desirable too.
Honestly, some of them seem like good ideas, but executed less than perfectly. Some of them are very good shots, but with less than perfect composition or light, for instance.
I think you are on the right track, though. Just need to be a little more meticulous.
Just my very subjective opinions.
And to answer your original qusetion, i don't know if they would sell. I personally wouldn't buy any, but then, i practically never do, so this doesn't mean much.

I've joined, and uploaded a handfull of the shots mentioned. I've got some of them submitted for prints. How long should it take before they are looked at?

It won't take long. Rough estimate is 24-48 hrs, maybe less.
Welcome, I'm glad you joined.

I am fairly new and about to submit one of my photographs for DPC just to use as my guinea-pig...it will be a good shot but I still have questions...like how big is too big for the actual uploaded photograph...and they list 300dpi as excellent quality but can I send one with higher dpi count? I am going to read through everything again this weekend and just do one and learn from doing!
Good luck to you as well...
