I read in shutterbug magizine today that you can make a pinhole lense for you dslr, but I was very confused on how. Does anyone know how to do this and care to share some directions to do so

so then, this cap has a .011" hole for a Canon EOS camera..a 300D should work.
Equivalent to 50mm at F180...any mathematics on what the shutter speed would be IF the normal exposure was 1/60 at F5.6?
Any idea on DOF?

Hmm, dust. the hole is small...need a 'lens' too i guess. slide glass? (for microspcopes)

The field of view of this pinhole is the same as a 50mm lens. For a pinhole, Focal Length (which is really only meaningful for LENSES, not holes) is theoretically zero, so the DOF is effectively infinite.
The difference between f5.6 and f180 is 10 stops so................
1/60 @ F5.6 = 16sec @ f180

About 15 seconds according to one other site and this pinhole calculator.

btw, I bought my R72 Hoya IR filter from Freestylephoto.biz and had no problems at all. They were even great when I returned it because I wasn't happy with the results. True pros. |

didn't see your post, i was already looking for calculators and typing mine up when you posted. Anyway, a link to the calc is helpful, hopefully, and it also proves that your mental math is dead on accurate =) |
