Anyone got a photographic resolution for this year?

I have just had mine, which is to enter every challenge this year. Also to shoot more black & white than color although that is solely dependent on the challenges.

Anyone else fancy joining the 'every challenge' club? Just think of it in terms of mathematics - as this increases the chance of my first blue ribbon :D

My 2005 resoutions are basically improve my pictures and get more time to take pictures. Last year I hadn´t much time to do it.

And a dream for 2005 in dpchallenge... Win a ribbon, but, of course, this is only a dream. I should improve a lot to get it.

Sheesh... every challenge eh - now there's an admirable aspiration. I would like to join you, but I know there's no way I could manage it. Particularly when it comes to challenges like Bokeh - a bit hard to get a properly blurred background with a 3X optical zoom on a point and shoot :).

So far I've entered the first 4 challenges this year though... and Im not doing badly in any of them, so thats a start!

As for photographic resolutions - well mine is fairly simple: Improve (Apologies for the lack of imagination).
I'd like to win a ribbon, but given that I'm trying to treat this site as the means to an end (i.e a vehicle for said improvement) rather than the end itself, that's really a supplementary goal. Oh, who am I kidding - I want one of those ribbons!! :P.

I'm currently getting my first genuinely high score in the resolutions challenge - but I'd say with that crop of images I'll still struggle to break the top ten, so I've got a way to go yet.

The only other thing on my wishlist is to figure out a way to get a macro shot of an insect sitting on a sheet of glass covered in water droplets reflecting a flag with a cute puppy being thrown a ball by an equally cute four year old in the background. If I can accomplish that, I won't need a ribbon for validation :).

My goals (resolutions?) are in my profile as well.
I thought about entering every challange..but i think it hurts creativity to some extent.

I want to do more of my own shooting and get enough good ones to frame them. Unfortunately, '05 is shaping up to be even busier than last year, so time to do anything 'for myself' is getting to be non-existent.

4 more years...my youngest should be in school by then and i have my 'real' job. Maybe then i'll have time alone.

You guys forgot to mention your goal of getting more people to look at your profile. ;-)

I thought of participating in every challenge, but that didn't seem possible, so I am thinking of participating atleast as much as to keep the "Update" button alive every day of the year.
And sure other goals carried over from 2004 like win a ribbon :>

(1) Comment on 20% of photos in challenges that I score.
(2) New Personal Best score. (Although often I know the shot I am entering won't meet the goal, I start out shooting for the challenge with that in mind.)

That's what I used ... it takes a little planning though.

My goal should be to enter fewer challenges ... : )

Entering all challenges is a wonderful exercise in creativity and discipline, but has a good possibility of lowering your overall average, if you care about things like that.

I would like to have a dSLR by Christmas. Yes its a long lond way off, but I will also be going overseas this year before that so will need my money lol

Plus my current camera kind of needs to ware out first, and I just don't use it enough to do that lol So therefore I need to take more photos (matt i know you will make sure i take a lot of photos this year :p)

And now that I am starting to get into stock, I would like to increae my portfolio a bit. I have only been doing stock a week and only have 6 photos up and yet I have actually made a lot of money and have a top rated downloaded image.

Imagine what I could do with a 100 more.

Not concerned with ribbons, just concerned with being the best that I can possibly be. Ribbons would be nice, but I don't really enter that many challenges, and when I do enter them, I purely enter for myself and not for recognition.

I have two VERY tough goals: score an 8 somehow, and make the Favorite Photographers list (just 6 favorites shy of 100 so far).

Yeah getting on the faves would be very nice. I need 9 more for 100, but 81 to make the list!

Need to start hitting some top 3's
