This is my first flag photo. Just curious on how good or bad it is.

| Flipping it would be a great start - it feels more natural and we could read the writing. |

Yes.. flip it and tone down the heavy color saturation... possibly a nice b/w if processed properly :)

I see a strong "halo" around most of it. Example, look at the top ball on the flagpole. And around the American flag and at the bottom of the POW flag. Maybe you over sharpened it?
I really like the background, how the blue sky goes to white and then grey colored clouds.
