is it normal for the 300d to have a sort of rattling sound right out of the box when you shake it? No lense is on it yet -- but when I move it up and down there's definately something inside that is very small moving around.
thanks, dave :-p

Yep it's normal... that detects whether the camera is portrait or landscape so when you look at the photos they are the right way up :)
It says that in the manual ;)

Come on...we could've strung him along for a while. Something about having to return it and wait a few more weeks for a new one...oh well!
;0)
Enjoy!

hehe thanks for the quick response guys...
man this thing comes with SOOOO much stuff and the book is so much bigger than the one for my s5100. I ended up getting the 512 ultra II card instead of the 1gig normal because like someone said on here, 2 is better than one incase one goes bad or something.

...uh, my camera didn't rattle when I got it. Is it defective? Also, when I take a pic in portrait, it stays in portrait and I have to rotate it in PS. I had selected the auto-rotate thingy in the menu but I guess either I've done it wrong (imagine that) or something. Help! |

the auto-detect is on your menu, and it only affects how you preview it in your lcd, not how the jpg is saved. also, when you shoot in portrait, the first preview will be landscape; when you push the preview button to bring it back to the lcd, it will come up in portrait mode. |

heh...is the Adobe Photoshop Elements that came with the camera better than Adobe Photoshop 7.0? Should I uninstall 7.0 and put elements on instead?

The full PS gives you more options. |

Put them both on! PS 7.0 has more features, Elements has RAW feature.
Actually, PS 7.0 allows import of RAW!! Just checked my copy out. Would still have both installed tho.
