Well, ordered the Canon Pro1 from Best Buy in hopes of having it by Christmas or first of year in their FREE NEXT DAY SHIPPING ads before XMAS. Well it has been backordered and got standard letter today saying it could be backordered for 25 days...and that if I want them to keep it on backorder longer I need to let them know.
Anybody know what the chances are one is in the store and they would let me have it in place of the backordered system? Guess I know where I will be going tomorrow during lunch...or at least calling.
Man, I hate waiting...had some great shots possible this past weekend. Heavy frost last night where it looked like snow almost down here in Charleston.....heavy fog on marshes with sun rising through it...I like doing black an white when the fog is thick and the marsh grass or live oaks are barely visible.
Oh well....gives me yet another thing to put in my list of pics to try with new camera...
merry christmas everyone...
baahhhh humbug (best buy) LOL |

Are they any good? their website isn't. lots of links that don't work, goofy pricing 'good for 60 minutes'...makes me nervous just to look.

You can get the Canon Pro Shot at Dell for only $679.15 with their holiday sale that lasts until Jan. 5 - I think.
Here's the link:

You get free shipping as well. I've ordered from them numerous times and have never had any problems. |

camera arrived today...went through manual completely taking test shots of walls, books, clocks, family, etc to test the various things mentioned. Had two strange things...
First I kept hearing this loud noise when pushing down shutter release...I was worried that the shutter curtains were out of sync...come to find out it was the damn noisy flash popping up. I had a good laugh over that one.
Next is the battery charger not charging...recepticle was a bit thick so moved it to a different one to see if maybe it was not getting inserted far enough to charge....wish me luck or will be at best buy to replace it tomorrow.
awpollard, watch out the questions will be heading your way shortly...LOL |

Brock, I'm glad you finally got it. I used my Pro1 up until about 2 weeks ago, and was quite happy with most of it. Hope you'll get it all sorted out very quickly. |

even though the camera is nicely built and of good quality...I must admit I miss the heft and feel of a SLR...so maybe next year I will get whatever version of the 20D is out and give this one to my daughter or wife or just keep it for happy snaps...hahahahahha
taking tripod and the basics out tomorrow to cemetary and to shrimp docks to see what I can shoot before the battery runs out. Going to do them in jpg initially I think and just let it flow! LOL |
