My sister looked through some of my photos, and she really liked this white flower one. Her birthday is in 2 weeks and she just bought a house and is moving in this Wednesday. Anyway, she said that she wanted a print of this one for her birthday to put in her house -- before I set out to get the print and everything, I figured I'd get all your opinions or if anything may need some more post-processing. I'm thinking 8x10 in some matting with a light wooden frame.
or is this one better...
sorry -- or this one.
Thanks so much...I'm done editing -- that's the final 3

Maybe take out the color of the purple flower next to the trunk. |

i think the 3rd version is by far the best. i never would have noticed if faidoi had not mentioned purple (which i later realized, he was referring to something entirely different), but it does appear that there is some purple in the background around the edges (i'm guessing chromatic abberation, since it extends up the edge of another flower in the top-right, but you can probably eliminate the effect relatively easily here). there is also some slight purple fringing (very slight, never would have noticed if not brought to my attention - your sister may never notice) along the edges of the foreground flower as well. just nitpicking, since that's what you asked for.

I honestly think your sister liked it how it was. Am I wrong? If anything I would ask her if there was anything about it she didn't like, then ask accordingly.

ahh good call on that purple. I didn't even see that around the edge of the front flower -- I'll have to desaturate that before I take it in.
So that's 2 or 3 votes for the 3rd one hehe...thanks...anymore comments or things to point out greatly appreciated.

thanks guys...here, I framed it up in Photoshop to get a better look how it might look. I don't know how to make a wooden frame, so I put it in black.

Deapee,
I've taken the liberty of engineering a slightly different "take" on this.
Selected out the central flower, reversed the selction.
Created a duplicate layer, did some minor healing brush work in BG and added gaussian blur, 10. Set the layer at 81%
Went back and loaded the main selection, added adjustment layers for levels and hue/saturation; in the latter I bumped up the yellow a tad and the red a tad more.
This isolates and "features" the central bloom much more, and draws the eye into the colors. Whether this what you want is another issue altogether.
It's a very nice shot. I think it would work better in a simple black frame than a light wood one, actually.
Enjoy, robt.

I like the third one better, but I tried a few things on teh jpg file...
I have an action from a person on the Fujimugs website..i ran parts of it and got these results (the latter 2 are probably too sharpened for good printing, the last one has a color punch up bit run on it too)

Now this one i ran USM with settting of 41%, radius 85 and t-hold 1. this is a quick de-haze trick.
I'd also maybe desat the background or darken it a bit or perhaps blur it more.

Deapee,
took about 10 minutes. I do a LOT of flowers this way. Is the running commentary enough for you to duplicate it? I can email the photoshop file if you want to see the layers and turn 'em on and off to see what each does.
Robt.
