no it's not only you
votes 260
views 469
some people go through and vote photos into blocks then go back and bump the scores up/down after having seen all the photos
ps. those who have block voted my wind entry in the 2-3s please go back and bump it up a lot :)

well, sometimes people want to come back and vote later.. and, if you think about it - there have to be less votes than views.. people have to stop voting somewhere - if you had an equal number of votes and views i guess that would mean that everyone was sooo compelled to vote after seeing your picture that they just couldn't stop ;)

I look at many (most?) photos several times. I usually go through them all once, and then go around again and vote on them. I also go back and make adjustments. Sometimes, later in the week, I even look through my favorites again just for fun. I guess I might add 4 or 5 views to a photo, but only 1 vote. Maybe this explains some of what is puzzling you?

I have a similar situation with both of my current challenge images. Perhaps there are just a bunch of curious people out there who don't want to bother voting if it isn't going to count- 20% is a lot of images to vote on in some of these challenges.
Conversely, I have to think that the thumbnail has to be interesting enough to make someone click on it to view full- which could end up being a good thing or a bad thing. I bet a lot of good images don't get the attention they deserve cause people's eyes aren't caught by the thumbnail.

are you talking about Deja Vu? In that case it could be that ppl are seeing your photo, then digging up the original, coming back to your version, seeing that somebody else did a take on the same original, back to compare.
I usually get about 100 more views than votes, but in the Deja Vu I'm at:
Votes: 160
Views: 315
or almost twice as many views as votes.

It's all my fault. :)
I've been through all the photos in Pets and Their People twice, plus selected views and have not cast even one vote. I cruised through Classy Holiday Decorations once and then went back for selected views--don't think I've voted or commented. Cruised through Deja Vu twice and then went back and forth between some of the originals and the entry while I voted and commented. It's not unusual for me to view some of the photos 5 times before the end of the challenge (and for some, once is enough) but I'll usually rack up two views because I almost always look at every entry as soon as the challenge voting open, while I wait until my wakeful hours to cast votes.

When a challenge begins I always look through the thumbnails and click on each picture that looks interesting, and I do that several times in the week and then maybe I´ll vote later in the week if I have the time to vote, but If I vote early in the challenge then I almost always go back and look through them again to adjust the scores |

If it has a snake or a spider I might not pause long enough to vote. |

My students visit this site and critique photos as class assignments. Only a few of my students are registered so when they view they don't vote. That could be a part of it.

I look at every image on which I vote at least 3 times, I'd say. I sort 'em into blocks, move 'em around, go back and comment on 'em... I'd expect this to be common. Seems to me that when you have a lot of votes and a LOT of hits both, then you know people are coming back to the image repeatedly, a Good Thing. A mediocre number of hits and very few votes would probably indicate a picture that didn't compel many people to return.
We poets talk about this a lot, viz readers; it's not that hard to suck 'em in for a peek, but to keep them coming back, that's the trick. My Frost and my Pound I bought at the same time, 40 years ago; the Pound looks almost new, the Frost is heavily worn and all patched up.

Robert you've got a point there. If people come back to see the picture it's a good sign. :) |
