i'm so sorry for your loss. :( He lives at the Rainbow Bridge now.
*******************************************************************
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My condolence. What makes these creatures so special is their innocence and their attachment. Yes, when they die, a little bit of us also dies because they became an integral part of us. |

You're KILLING me here :) We have a dog park near here with a beautiful bridge where the swimmers play in the creek. Mostly labs, but all kinds come and go. Couldn't help but visualize that rainbow bridge, and my Sidney who's already on the other side of it.
SMW409, I'll ask Sid to make Jet feel welcome. Try not to think about your loss, but instead all that you gained through that friendship. I'm sure that's what Jet would tell you too. Jeesh, I'm going to be a mess now!

My condolences go out to you also. My boxer, Zane, just turned 6 and I know the day when I will lose him draws near, tears well up in my eyes just thinking about it. I truly feel for you, no one but a pet owner TRULY knows how much they mean to us.

Sometimes our dogs are the closest & most trusted friends that we can have. They are the most loyal and are always there when you need them with simplest most innocent type of love. I'm so sorry for your loss. Just know that you have the most special guardian angel watching over you from now on.
Sher: That is a wonderful poem. My mother-in-law gave me a copy of that when my cat of 18 years passed on last year. You just brought back a very special feeling and many memories. Thank you! :) |

I can sympathize. I lost my dog, who was 17, just last month. I can only imagine puppy heaven is one happy place. There are so many cute dogs there!

My heartfelt condolences on your loss. I do so know the heartache you are feeling at this time, for I lost my beloved Beauregard less than a year ago.
Sher, I read your response through teary eyes, and know that some day I too will cross that bridge and be greeted by my loving Bouvier.
I know that this is of little comfort to you at this time, but rest assured that with time your heartache will wane, and will be replaced by fond memories of the playful moments you shared with your loving pet. |

My deepest sympathies on your loss. I always liked this quote " If we measure lives not in time but in grace, in the joy with which they
are lived, and in the love they leave behind, then we have much to learn from our dogs." May you find some comfort in it

Oh how terrible! I'm sorry, and can relate. It's a tremendous loss. The best dog I ever had was "Arrow" a beautiful, loyal, smart Brittany Spaniel. It's been years and we still miss him.
Your dog had a wonderful sweet face with lots of character. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My condolences. I've been through this already with 2 cats and one dog, and it is always hard. This year had the potential for another cat and dog to move on, but fortunately for us, they have decided to stay with us a bit longer.
If it would help:
