I was disqualified because of this:

> You must provide your original when requested to do so. Please review the challenge submission rules.

I have read the submission rules, and I was aware of the said paragraph. However, I haven't received any request for the original so far.

This is my first participation in your challenges, so bear with me if I got it wrong, but could you please tell me how they would request originals usually? If it is by email, I should have received a request.

If this procedure, on the other hand, is a scheme to persuade me to pay for a membership, then I'm sorry to tell you it failed.

Sorry if this sounds angry, but I'm really p*ssed.

Usually what happens is you will see under your submission when you are logged into the website (Left hand side), a request for original photo for validation. Also you will have an email sent to your email account (that you register with) to submitted your request within 48 hours of the request.

It will all workout, they are just doing their job (more like hobby). Good Luck

EDIT: spelling

If you already feel it's necessary to apologize by the time you get done typing, perhaps you should have revised the way you said what you wanted to say.

Why be so quick to assume someone is out to get you?

How would this persuade you to pay for membership? I'm very confused and also find it extremely rude of you to accuse us of this.

When your proof is requested an email is sent to you. It also appears in red text on the dpchallenge homepage so you don't miss it. All instructions are provided in the email and the red text.

Like the guy said, it's his first time participating. Aren't there thouuuuusands of websites out to scam people? It's not like it'd be a shock if this was one more in the pile. Just because we all like it here and some people have an emotional attachment, doesn't mean it's obvious to others.

And whether or not you liked his tone, isn't really relevent.

Edit: left out the word "have"

It'd be a pretty sad scam if the plot was to DQ entrants and then expect them to pay.

Thanks Moose. I seem to have completely missed the "My Submissions" part of the page. Now that I looked for it I found it. :) Hmm, not to bright of me, I suppose. Haven't got any email, though. Oh well, I'll try again.

@ hopper: I wanted to express my strong feelings but also to apologize to people who are easily offended, as it's not their fault anyway. Maybe you are one of these people. My apologies again. No offense meant.

There are lots of people out there who would do a lot stranger for a lot less.

Have you received any email from dpc? Are you sure your junk mail filters aren't filtering it out? I'll send you a PM now, let me know if you get it.

You might consider getting a yahoo mail account and using that as your email address here if you still haven't received the dq message by now. Also it will cut down on spam at your regular email. There are people that collect these addresses because they are public information.

@ mk: Thanks. I have received the DQ message, so I suppose I do get emails from dpchallenge. I have not, as of now, received an email with a message from you.
@ pcody: This is probably a good idea. Thanks.

Better than a Yahoo / Hotmail account would be a free FastMail account. Much better feature set, choice of domain names, minimal advertisements (unlike Yahoo / Hotmail where they are a constant source of annoyance) and a cheap, one-time upgrade fee of $14.95 to move up to a full-featured account with lots of extra goodies if you so desire.

I'm not offended. I was more or less sticking up for the site counsel as those are the ones that you were addressing. Many newer people come to these forums and accuse the site counsel of lots of things. I'm just suggesting that if you realize you're angry in the moment, perhaps that would be a good time to re-read what you wrote. I don't think you meant to be cruel, but it did "sound" that way.

So far I haven't got a mail from you. I tried to PM myself, and this worked. What's happening here?

I'm not sure. If the PM from yourself worked, mine should have worked also. Strange.

Strange is a good word for how dpc e-mail works. Mysterious would also apply.

I thought the same thing when I started only to discover that the spam filter supplied by my ISP was holding and then deleteing these emails.

Its important to check with your ISP if they have a spam filter and then ensure you visit it regularly.
12/10/2004 03:42:16 PM · #18
Is it possible that an aggressive spam filter is stopping the request email? Looking into the headers of a private message from DPC, spamassasin gives it a score of 0.4. The SC request for my original had a spamassasin score of 3.1. If the threshold is 3, then it is within the realm of the possible that some spam filter ate the SC email, but not the private message.

Hmm I have spam assasin enabled but not the spam box, so I'm still getting the messages, tagged as spam. I may have deleted a tagged message without looking into it, I get lots of them. What I don't understand is that PM seems to work sometimes and sometimes not. When I sent the PM to myself it wasn't tagged as spam, and worked perfectly well. The PM mk has sent hasn't arrived, not even tagged.

I just sent you a pm....

Case closed! The council was so kind as to reinstate my picture and to send the request for the original again. I'm quite sure I didn't deserve that for showing elaborate manners, of course. :/

I've seen that the new DPC 'Response Required' message was tagged as spam by my mail filter. I think I'll probably have deleted the first one. There might still be an issue with PMs, though, they do seem to come with a considerable time delay sometimes. However, as of now they have all arrived.

Thanks to everyone for your comments, your help and your PMs. You've been really helpful in spite of the aggressive tone of my first message. I promise I'll try to behave well from now on! :)

That's why you should always check your spam regularly! (Seriously) For missed emails.

Everything has an answer to it. The most obvious is not always the right one ;)

I check my spam box every day. I get PM's all day long. This is the first one that's ended up in the spam though. Found it weird.
