That is indeed a correct assumption, and therefore, some photos may be harder to pay homage to than others...

Just get some clay pots, paint them gray, stick some flowers in them, and position the camera to get a perspective that makes them looming. If a syrofoam stonehenge can fool people then some clay pots should too! |

How about I take a pic of the local nuke plant and edit it in PS to show all but the flowers, and then put the floweres in front front of the computer monitor? (stonehenge and moon idea copied...sorta)
Is this how I can win from now on? Creat an image in PS, display it and then put something in front of the screen...
We'll see...I now have an idea for Wind! |

Sure, but I suspect a lot of parody in most of the shots...I think that's what will do well. |

I've actually alread done something like a tribute to an image, not a ribboned one though.
This photo
and this thread: Gee....who knew phone poles were such a BAD thing?
inspired me for this submission to Implied Lines

I love the challenge idea, but unfortunately my favourite three would all not be possible under the standard advanced rules :(
Otherwise I'd be doing a different version of:

Given that the original photographers already have the experience and props/locations, they should have a distinct edge. look for new versions of Zoomdak's haystack vista, Kosmik's museum (I'll give it a one, I swear), Theodor38's familiar face, Jacko's frozen bug collection, and an assortment of popular skylines and landscapes. I kinda' wish there had been a caveat that nobody could reproduce their own shot. |

No question about that. I really think that should have been a stipulation in the rules. Way easier to do shot you have already done compared to duplicating someone elses photo. |

Awww man!! There ya go again!! Another GREAT oppostunity to take that museum shot and you just go and tell the whole world!!! THANKS!!!! ;-)
Seriously though, someone who pays homage to their own work is a little bit...... narcissic. :-) But no one will be able to know during voting though.

Well, I've been at this trying to imitate a certain entry for about 3 hours now...I think I'm going to give up and try another...or give it more tomorrow (although I'd have to clean up first or my girlfriend will kill me then set it all back up tomorrow *sigh* ).
ahh well...here was my attempt...
and the original which I came nowhere near to...

Nope, this shot is impossible even under the advanced editing rules ... well, unless you have a set of triplets, a huge piece of perspex to fake the film effect and cut up some clothes.
You can't use multiple mages in the advanced editing, and I liked the idea of it all being the same girl, rather than 3 different models.
Love your attempt though at a parody of this shot, very neat idea indeed. Sorry to see it did not work out as intended :(
