I went ahead and sent out the initial email to everyone who is currently signed up for this project. I am also actively pursuing some other photographers (non-dpc) for the 13 states that we are missing at this point. Feel free to start shooting and send me whatever you have when you are ready :)

I think this presentation is gonna look great when its finished :)

That would be great :) There is currently no deadline so time would not be a problem as long as she lives in CT...

Ok..

I am down to two states... I have had a very difficult time with Delaware at this point. I have sent email to several photographers and a couple camera clubs as well with no responses. Does anyone here know a photographer in Delaware?

South Carolina has also proven to be difficult. I haven't sent but a few messages to South Carolina photographers so far, but it was not expected to be one of the last states I would find... Any takers?

Hmmm ... I just realized with the addition of the US and UN flags you could make a deck of cards ....

how about the US and distric of columbia flags for a deck of cards?

does DC have a flag of its own - i think they do...

I just got a pm and will be happy to do South Carolina.

Excellent... All we need now is Delaware :)

Only 'cause I have a picture of a UN flag. : )
Actually, the DC flag is a good idea.

I think a deck of playing cards would be a great project within itself. Someone should come up with a new theme and create that project. I have never researched what would be involved in getting those made :)

playing cards

this is a link to a UK site....

Average Cost for deck of customised playing cards, Qty 1000, with box is £2.99 ex VAT

They go on to say ...Our minimum print run is 500 decks ( 250 can be done but it is expensive )

So ther must be plenty of others out there

OK folks...

It appears that this project will officially be underway very soon. I have a volunteer from Delaware who I'm waiting for a final response from. She was concerned that the deadline may be prior to the end of this year, which it will not. Hopefully, based on that, she will decide to participate.

I'm looking forward to getting this project off the ground and to completion.

Thanks for your help :)

i have a flag location picked out.
now i just need some damn sunshine....

i am chosing a flag at st michaels college.
fairly low flying, and in the middle of a green.

i figure the sigma 105 should do the trick.

Same issue here - rain and crap for 7 days now. I tried some shots yesterday as there has been no wind since the start of the Wind challenge (of course...).

Taking a pic of a flag is going to be much more difficult than i originally thought!

Here is the best of about 8 i tried. It is not very good. It was raining and there was some breeze, but it came and went, making this a true 'action' shot!

Hang on to that one... we can use it if you don't come up with one you like better... we still have plenty of time though...

I got the Montana flag photo in my email this morning.... 48 photos to go :)

I know i'll come up with one better! I know of 4 state flags flying near me..one is too faded and weather beaten to be any use, but the other 3...and 2 of htem are but a mile away. I just need a sunny day! Well, at least one that is not like today - snowing and dreary.

I shoot in fine jpg mode at max res, but tried a shot at TIFF (my camera pre-dates RAW) and the noise inteh sky was horrendous. I may stay with JPG.
