I got a solicitation from them in my email. I could not find anything in the search. Any info or point me to a thread regarding Big Stock would be appreciated! Thanks! RoB

never heard of them -- even tried google'ing them -- chances are it's a hoax. Feel like posting up the email they sent you?

It's not a hoax - someone from istock posted that they are a competitor (aka disgruntled user) of istockphoto. Big stock is down with Canstockphoto for me in the trash. There are only two RF's I know of worth anything - istock and shutterstock.

Why would you want to deal with spammers anyway?

I got an email from them awhile back. I didn't really consider it spam because the email was written directly to me and specifically referenced in detail a few of my photos. The point of the email was to ask me to sign up there, though. I uploaded one photo but didn't do any more because there is no way to delete your photos yourself. I'm not sure if that ones file ever got any downloads because I never checked back.

I didn't think it was spam, either. Here it the email:

Hi Robert,

Wow, your photos are beautiful! If you have any 'unused' photos sitting around on your harddrive, you can sell them and promote your photography business on our new website //www.bigstockphoto.com. We are the makers of CoolHomepages.com and have quite a following for the past 7 years (around 4.5 million page views a month). Anyway, we are solicitiing professional photographers to add to our collection of royalty-free stock photography.

We are going to do everything we can to promote our photographers and direct our users to your website/work.

Please consider uploading today, we can put your photos to use and promote your professional work.

Thank you for your time!

Best Regards,
Dawn Donahue

What problems have you had with Canstock?

No problems - they just don't sell. I have 30 or so images there and have sold one. In 6 months. One.

Yep, I've had similar experiences, but on a smaller scale (I've submitted about 27 photos, they've accepted 8, I've had no downloads). Just wanted to make sure they weren't evil or anything on top of that.
