I just got me a new one as well, but I have to be different... I can't follow the crowd... Got the New Pentax *ist-DS. Too many of you Canon people around here. Besides, I like the smaller size and better build quality of it... (just trying to get a reaction)... Enjoy your new toy lauriel, but if you don't like it, look at the new Pentax...

Just looked at your shots, and remember, it's all fun and games, until someone pokes your eye out with a candy cane...

Yahoo! Congrats Laurie. No fair using cute kids in your first shots, of course they look good. I get my D-70 from Santa tomorrow (at least that is what the UPS site says). Here comes the learning curve.

edit: spelling - damn fingers never have learned

wow nice present!!! Personally, I messed around with the d-rebel and the d70...I liked the way the d70 felt better in my hand. If you decide after 30 days though, and get the d70 anyway, you can always send me the rebel (I'll pay shipping of course!).

haha -- wow those photos are really clear and crisp -- nice work. I can't imagine once you get familiar with that thing.

Congrat's Laurie. The Canons are great because at least theoretically they are low noise. Except I've still found more noise than I want!

The problem with either is that the camera is cheap, but the lenses aren't! If you are on a budget and want an excellent walk around lens though, I will now wholeheartedly recommend the Sigma 18-125. I've been using it a lot lately, and it really is great, and it's <$300. I also have the 70-200/F4L Canon, and it's fantastic too but it cost more than $600. Together, they make a wonderful, full range combo.

Happy shooting.

Regards--Neil

Laurie, As busy as I am, if you come to Michigan, I'll give you some personal attention! Hey, we can even play with your new camera! :-0

Actually, I'm kinda jealous now... My Rebel is in the shop. :-(

Laurie - that's awesome! Welcome to the Club! I was looking at your portfolio today and thinking "wow, we have all gotten so much better!" I see your ribbons and your most recent shots and think how awesome DPC is and what a great part of it you are. I hope this new addition to the arsenal only helps you produce EVEN BETTER pics in the future.

It's just the neatest thing since sliced bread! :o)

I haven't gotten to do a whole lot with it yet (work interferes with my little hobby) but I plan to have some fun with it this weekend!

I love my rebel too but it's going back to Canon for a little holiday after Xmas......has a problem with the Av and Tv settings.......the images come out very over exposed. Mostly use manual and it's ok with that. Thought it might be user error, but went back to the shop and seems to be the camera.
