Nikon V Canon

Would be very competitive and I assume threads would bulge. Would be uberfun.

Then us other owners can't join, and also this will start another hardware argument. Some of the best photographers on this site don't use either of those brands.

Which is kinda the point of an invitational challenge - some people can enter, some people can't.

howabout a brand cup?

have specific heats for the canons, sonys, nikons, fujis, liecas (rich bastards) and others with say more than 30 registered owners, and the top 3 or 5 of each goes through to the big cup at the end!

When I get my Minolta DSLR, it could be Minolta vs the rest of the world.
Seriously, as I've said before, I think it's unhealthy to obsess too much over equipment so I think this is not a great idea for a challenge.

Obsess, yes.
Having a bit of fun around the whole thing is a whole different kettle of fish though.

I agree that it's the photographer, not the equipment! But I'd still like to see a Nikon vs Canon challenge!! I couldn't afford the Nikon I wanted so I went with the HP I have now. I used to shoot with a Nikon EM film camera. Nikon will be victorious, no question about it! :)

Excellent idea! Maybe even two divisions: dSLR and P&S...

I don't understand this Nikon vs. Canon.

I'd much rather see women vs. men, or blacks vs. whites, or jews vs. gentiles, or liberals vs. conservatives, rich folk vs. poor folk, smokers vs. non-smokers, pro-life vs. pro-choice, macgyver fans vs. mash fans...let's be creative with our divisions!

Edit: I forgot I have to put a disclaimer on my sarcastic posts...so consider this post disclaimed...

Nonproductive ?

Many people are camera collectors masquerading as photographers - manufacturer fandom seems to come easily on those grounds.

I know I'm an olympus user (maybe once I do this professionaly I can afford a REAL camera) but it seems to me that in order to REALLY put one camera against another you would have to shoot the same subject, same lighting conditions etc. Anyone can shoot a great shot with either camera as long as your setup is correct. Maybe I'm wrong but like I said...I'm and olympus user :)
