Just wondering how this shot strikes people. I had thought of offering it as a print

maybe convert it to B&W or a sepia tone to give it a vintage feel. It looks rather plain the way it is now. Just my opinion though.

[IMO] you have taken a good technical photograph. Good focus, lighting, contrast, etc. But the photograph it self is confusing to me. Just to much going on here. Maybe a tighter crop would work well. I hope my opinion does not offend you because you did a great job, its just so many shadows, lines, going in all directions. My eye wonders. Again try cropping and see if that helps. Just my opinion.

I think SDW65 has said it extremely well - I truly love something this iamge, but agree it has just a bit TOO much if anything. Keep with this - it is a winner.

I think you have a nice picture in there, but you might need to search a little for it. Did you try a vertical crop? Maybe one where the upper center is 2/3 over and 1/3 down and the left lower center is 1/3 over and 2/3 down. Hope that is understandable. It is an interesting picture.

I think a sepia tone would look great on it...

Thanks for the input! I will definitely try to crop it differently and see if i can come up with something. Asthe photo sits now its not cropped at all.
I tried the sepia and B/W before and it just didn't pop out at me.
I have no problem at all if you wanted to try your ideas and show them here.

crop, mirror and pumped up the colors a little.

I definately like the vertical crop better. I played with the vertical crop version a bit and gave it a bronze tint here:

I like the tighter crop, but I would have gone horizontal. Either way, I love this picture (the textures and the color - even without the sepia toning) but the top in the original was distracting me. So with a tighter crop you really focus on what you want to show without your eye wandering up to the patterns behind the wheels up top. I really think it's a great image and you are getting some great advice from the above members.

Thanks again everybody! The vertical crop is what it needed. Unfortunately i can't get the aspect ratio right to sell it on DpcPrints.
It looks like I will have to take a trip back to the wagonwheels to reshoot it.

I really appreciate the feedback from everybody. I am learning more and more every day!

Hi Kenny. I agree with the feedback, which was mostly trying to find a place in the photo for your eye to land. I find that in shots like this that primarily show a pattern in a consistent color, the best way to make the image stand out is to put something into the pattern to break it up, usually on the bottom right third line where the wheel hub is in your vertical crop. Since the primary color in this photo is a brownish orange, putting something blue in the shot would complement the photo really nicely. If you do go back out to shoot again, see if you can find or bring something blue with you to put in the shot. Good luck!
