Wow, I didn't realize exactly HOW poorly calibrated my monitor was until I saw my own Black and White submission on my monitor at work. Of course, it was too late for me to do anything about it, since the challenge had already started, but I knew I would get pelted for my complete lack of contrast. Boy, did I ever :)

So, here's the photo that 23 of you thought had too little contrast :

Thank you everybody for the comments!

...and here's what I thought I was posting, but didn't because my monitor was way out of calibration:

Of course, I'm going to double check this at work tomorrow to make sure this new photo looks like I think it looks!!

Comments, suggestions??

the ground looks much better, but the sky at the very top is too blown out IMO. How did you convert this to b/w ? and what did you do to improve contrast ?

I dunno, the second one seems a little TOO dark in the sky to me.

I thought the one you entered had some special processing. It looks like I remember dusty days out west looking. Just a touch more contrast might help, but to much will ruin that special feel. I also thought it could have been ir.
