Gas Lampby banmornComment: I love the tones and simple composition here! Very old time homey feel! You appear to be a little tilted though, enough to be distracting, but not enough to be 'artsy'...

Dragon Manby jealbornComment: What a difficult exposure you have attempted here. Looks like ya missed it though. Your highlights are way blown out and your dark bits are too dark.... Interesting subject though!

Abstract Jalapenoby MJENNIComment: IMHO this has gone beyond the boundaries of photographic integrity. I do not and probably never will appreciate these shots. Going within the guidelines of the rules, I can not give you a very high score.

Should have picked those 2 HOT PEPPERS yesterday!by RasaiComment: Very funny take on the challenge. Are these cayenne? Love the hot peppers.
Good job of framing against the dark background! Nice focus. Your lighing could be a little more interesting to give more depth to the plant...
Your border is not even all around. When increasing your canvas size you need to make sure you are doing it in even numbers of pixels.

Just a Lighted Leaf....by ellamayComment: From the Critique Club
I am not sure what you are trying to achieve with this shot.
Compositionaly, there is no real focal point here. There are leading lines, but they are kind of confusing as they lead out of the frame in either direction. Your choice of subject doesn't seem to hold much interest.
As a study in shallow DOF, this has some marginal interest. The only part of the shot that seems to truly be in focus is the trailing edge of the center leaf. This is also kind of confusing and seems to detract from the DOF you've otherwise seem to have accomplished.
You do have some interesting textures that are accentuated by the side lighting! However this is not enough to keep my attention.
I WOULD like to see the other shots in this series (I'm assuming of course that this wasn't the only shot you took). I believe that as a collection it would give more validity to this shot as part of a bigger study. However, by itself it just seems to lack holding power.

Drowning Madnessby unknowndeathComment: From the Critique Club
IMHO this shot has gone beyond the boundries of photographic integrity. In other words it is no longer a photograph. It is some kind of digital art and using the challenge rules as a guideline, this doesn't truly belong on this site.
Nothing personal,

The Gatheringby jmsetzlerComment: This is a very cool shot. However, I do not see any fire or anything that I would take to represent fire here. Therefore, under the guidelines of the rules I can not give you a very high score!

Gotta light? by kiwinessComment: Awesome job of capturing the smoke! Your matchstick seems a little over sharpened or overexposed. Nice shot overall!

three ghostsby jbruno1397Comment: Because this is a tall shot (and I didn't expand my browser) I had to scroll up and down a little to get all the shot. Doing this, I accidently noticed that if you crop just under the 4 lights at the top, you end up with a MUCH more potent shot! This does cut off the taller 'ghosts' head, but it still has more 'pop'! I'm not a big fan of the 'ghost' images but this one is very well though out and executed!

Exhaustedby e301Comment: Very good shot. I would have tried a shot like this for the challenge, but the closest refinery (an hour north of me) closed down a year ago and is now totaly gone (nothing but rubble...)
