Autumn colorsby KevinRiggsComment: A little small, but nicely done! Like how he's leaning out of the frame, and the river takes you the same way with the subtle tilt!

Silvia by cyanoComment: I am amazed that this got the blue ribbon! Without the girl in the background it definately deserves it. Guess I'll NEVER figure out the DPC voting public. Lemme say again awesome shot that would have been down right bad ass without the extra element of the second (almost) subject!

Walnut Grove Schoolhouseby vontomComment: I knew that this shot would be rediculously underrated, but this is horrible. You should have been at least in the top 10 percent, not way down here near the basement. Please keep up the good work and don't let this first entry get ya down. Like I said below, soft focus is NOT appreciated here like it should be. If you look at any fine art b/w magazines or shows, you'll see shots like this all the time. DPC, as fine a site as it is does NOT represent the world of fine photography...
Yours (hopefully for some time)

Into a Hazy Future. by ArtysteComment: Congrats on the first ribbon! Missed my guess at placement by one place! :-| Figured this was the winner by far!

Late Arrivalsby dartompkinsComment: This one is the best! Off setting subjects against the background of one of the better sunsets that I've seen in a while works wonderfully! |

Silvia by cyanoComment: The girl in the background is an unnecesary element that detracts from an otherwise flawless portrait that fits in perfectly with the challenge theme. Take her out of the shot and this goes up a point maybe two! Great b/w portrait!

Into a Hazy Future. by ArtysteComment: OK You got me. This is the first shot in (IMHO) a very dull set of challenge shots that made me stop and say 'wow'. Great depth, great tonality. Love the mist and leading lines (path into the distance) and the simplicity of the shot. Without hitting us in the head with the challenge theme, you hit the challenge theme right on the head!

Early Morning Busrideby jrwybleComment: Too far away for great impact. Someone once said that 90% of all photographs would be improved simply by getting closer. This is a great example of that!
