I breathe the windby alexjackComment: Usually, a shot that has this many technical flaws would get a 4 or 5 from me, but there's something about the energy in this photo that throws technicality to the wind. It is like some of those old Life photos where your first thought isn't, "should have used f/5.6", it's "How wonderful!" |

Sea Horse?by phloverComment: A little blown out and bright for my tastes. Nice composition though. |

Sky High by RistyzComment: Would that the poles on the one edge not have been there, but we can't win them all. WOnderfully shot and processed. |

~ Seahorse ~by hihosilverComment: Simply fantastic. This is the first photo I've seen so far that has just about made me give out the impossible 10. (However, not quite. My philosophy is that 10 should remain unbelievably rare.) A very strong 9 though. |

Tableau by BrinComment: Gorgeous. Many photos like this are usually taken quickly, without much thought to the dynamics as a whole, but it looks to me like you took a little bit of time to get this right. The setting sun is in a wonderful position, and serves to highlight the silhouette instead of working against it.
I'm not a horse fan, but something like this transcends. |

400 Black and White Horsesby TruegshtComment: Hello. I am making a point on commenting on the photos that I rated a 2 or 3 in this challenge.
I gave this image a 2 for the following:
As with the other photos in this challenge that were based on this subject, I just don't feel that it is a clever enough interpretation to warrant a higher score. Horsepower may have been based on horses at one time in the past, but today it speaks of vehicles. For me, challenges are there for a reason, to challenge. I believe if we were to allow interpretation this wide-spread, every challenge may as well be a free study.
So, with that in mind, this image warrants a 2 from me. Perhaps you are faring better with other voters. |

Late Evening Mealby SteveJComment: Hello. I am making a point on commenting on the photos that I rated a 2 or 3 in this challenge.
I gave this image a 3 for the following:
I'm not sure if this was a shot taken from a long distance away and cropped in really, really tight, or if the camera optics just aren't very good, but whatever the case the image suffers from bad artifacting, and what looks like blur/camera shake. It also doesn't have a very exciting composition.
If this was taken from far away and then cropped a lot, might I suggest getting closer next time if possible, or finding subjects that you can get closer to. (If it's just bad optics, well, can't help there).
As for composition, try finding angles that flatter the subjects more. Something where their heads aren't hidden, or their expressions can come into play, or the body language can speak to the viewer. Take your time and wait for the subjects to be more active. Use props/food/etc. to get them to be more active (if allowable).
This meets the challenge, yes, but for me it just has too much wrong with it to compete. |
