erasureby posthumousComment: Surprise finding an abstract with actual human element in this challenge. |

Hesitationby markwileyComment: Another real abstract that should have done much better even as well as it did. Most of the leaders aren't abstract in the traditional meaning but I guess words change and I'm just slow. |

Three girls shoppingby MelethiaComment: Really brilliant in every way and best of all, actually abstract. Nice finish but should have done much better if voters knew what abstract meant, since it doesn't any more. |

april's adagioby bspurgeonComment: Never got to my second pass in April Free Study so you got stuck with a 6 when I should have bumped it up. |

Yesterday's Sorrowsby instepsComment: I've had to spend time with this one to hopefully put my reaction into words. What starts out to be another nostalgic cathedral shot becomes a sad, dissonent experience. The railing does it. It both frames the man on the bench and cuts him off from seeking comfort of the church or purging his misery into the trashcan. The way the black bar rudely chops through the church windows and then drops down and out is so viserally nihilistic - to me. It seems so relevant to our times. Emptyby instepsComment: The vignette seems natural with the sepia vintage look. But Its the compositiopn that ultimately makes it work for me, which would have been true regardless of special effects I think. |
