I like the photo and often find myself taking pictures of fire hydrants. However in this instance since the fire hydrant is so bland in color it appeared to me that the background was grabbing my interest more than the main subject. Maybe if you had used a different f-stop to blur the background it would have left some color to highlight the fire hydrant without pulling all the attention away from it. Good luck in the challenge.

This photo meets the challenge perfectly in my opinion as it is obvious. I like the placement of the chocolate kiss and the way the pull string with the word kiss is seen. My only negative comment is that it could have been a bit sharper.

I don't think this woman looks at rest at all. Doesn't have a darn thing to do with culture or anything else except that it didn't meet the challenge. I too gave it a low score. As stated by others my criteria first off is to see if the photo meets the challenge. If anyone could just submit what they wanted then we could just have open contests every couple of days and you could shoot what you wanted.
