post mortemby taseComment: This seems almost like an editorial portrait. The despair is communicated, but I am having a difficult time seeing this as an environmental portrait. |

Pondersomeby LonzComment: Everything is too blown out for my tastes. This causes me to not even give things the attention that they deserve. I guess that is why art speaks differently to different people. |

In His Elementby alanfreedComment: The environment is clearly defined and is clearly defining your subject. Your subject is doing what he does in this environment. All elements of this challenge are here. I think your downfall is that Obama is such an animated speaker and this shot doesn't really capture that. It's hard, when your subject is so well known, to really capture what the public already knows about him. It's like he just finished something wonderful, or he is about to open up and let the personality come through. This shot is right in the middle. |

Artist at Workby cjoconn22Comment: The shadows under the hat are a little too low. You are losing part of that intense stare. And the stare is what draws me into this shot. |

This Way Homeby JoAnna3853Comment: This looks like a catalog shot in wide angle. How does this environment define the subject? And why is he pointing? (I get the intent from the title). If I saw that title without the picture, I would imagine a totally different scene...one that involved my subject actually attempting to get home. I think you had a good start and probably could have done more with this. |

In The Elementby dmul91Comment: Everything is blown out and the colors are extremely harsh. Plus, I would submit that the idea of a portrait is to show your subject's face. |

At the beachby helgiComment: Don't know how you able to capture this without suffering from the anger of the momma. However, this doesn't spaek to me in the context of this challenge. Art speaks differently to different people. |

Aliens in Roswellby dstrohlComment: This is fun! The environment definitely defines the subject. The subject is obviously serious about his environment. |

Young Piperby BrennanOBComment: I like the concentration in his face. My only suggestion, I would have liked to see him playing the pipes. |
