The girder is a silouette and has no detail. Fill flash would have fixed that without blowing out the background. Way too much noise, evidenced by all the color dots in the sand. The sky is a bit burned and a graduated neutral density filter could have brought some detail to the sky and left the sand properly exposed. And in general it doesn't look "tack sharp" which makes me wonder if you used a tripod or hand held.

I didn't even look through the open challenge, but you asked for constructive criticism and i hope my thoughts help. Remember, we each see thigns a bit differently and thus shoot them a bit differently. What is right for me might not be for you. My own posts are not the greatest. But the fun for me was meeting specific challenges which pushed me to shoot things I normally would not. Thus increasing my own depth of knowledge in this great hobby.

I see the color in the one eye but not the other. Plus to make this really work the saturation needs turned up so those colored yes really POP.

very soft on teh focus and the background does nothing to enhance the beauty of theis little guy/gal. good colors and a nice catchlight though.

Now that's a funky bird. good focus, contrast, saturation etc. Not sure the composition really jumps up and yells hey look at me I'm a winner. But all teh technicals are good.
