Sock Itby mkosoComment: I like the composition, but I wish the highlights on the top sockets weren't blown out so much |

glovesby annrComment: very interesting shot. I had to study it to see what it was. I'll bet he's glad to have his tools to use when poking around in a shark's mouth! The lower left area distracts somewhat from the shot, but it is eye catching |

Speak No Evilby dsidwellComment: This was my favorite shot in the competition. I'm surprised others didn't agree. Your idea, composition, tones and interpretation of the theme make this a winner to me. Congrats on a great photo. |

Mobile homeby marboComment: Hi Marbo! This is a Critique Club critique (and my first, so let me know if it is detailed enough...)
This image completely captures the idea of the assignment in a very clear and literal fashion. I like the word play in the title. It is a whimsical shot and although fairly ordinary in its content, I think it the context of the challenge it works well.
From a technical standpoint, your tonal range is very good. Exposure is good, even on the highlighted areas of the head and top of the shell. DOF is a bit shallow as can be seen where the leg in the background blurs too much. Textural details are brought out very well with the skin surfaces of the legs and head and the folds of the neck being the most obvious. Seeing the tongue gives extra interest.
I assume this is a pet or a friendly local turtle from the fact that you've given her(?) a name. As such, I would think that you might have been able to position her better in the shot, avoiding some of the foreground grass that is occluding her tongue and face.
Overall, a fun ordinary shot of a common animal, but one that was executed nicely. |

Decisions...by sfarrell23Comment: I generally like B&W, but I'd say in this case the color of the pills is an important attribute to the story your trying to tell in this shot. |

Free Your Mindby sherComment: I like it - The Matrix meets Home Depot! The black fingernail polish is a nice detail. |
