Moonlight Serenade

Moonlight Serenade
by AlexSaberi

Comment:
This looks like Alex; given the swans, soft diffusion of light, blue tones, and an overall excellent image. I don't know that the tree adds much to your image, and part of me wants to see the sky and the moon (since it IS a moonlight serenade).

Great texture on the clouds. Your horizon is a bit tilted, and you can easily fix that in PS. Under the eyedroper tool, select 'measure', and drag the little line across your horizon, making sure to line it up on both ends so that it follows your horizon. Then go to 'image--->rotate---->arbitrary'. It will tell you the angle the image will be rotated, press OK. You'll get funny white spaces on every side which you have to crop out, but honestly, I think a tilted horizon is not worth the price of a little bit of your image.

Great colors, but your foreground is too dark. Try using a shadow/highlight mask to tease out the details--currently, its a distracting black mass.

I love the image, but I would have cut the white border. The image holds its own without the border, which is a little too large and distracting--7

I like how you've split the background between a lit, white surface and a fading grey into black. Too many images such as this have a sold 'look you guys, i've found pure WHITE' background, and the curve of the white with the curve of the leaves looks great. Also, the leaves are a stunning red. Great composition and capture--8

I love the blood diffusion in the water, but I don't think you can sign your images on DPC...

I love the soft diffusion of light, but it seems like too much of this image is behind a haze. I like layers of haze because there's a great contrast between what is in focus and what is hazy, but here the haze effect is overwhelming. Overall, well composed--6

You have great material to work with, I just wish there had been more post processing. A background duplication with a layer overlay, shadow/highlight mask, and some tweaking of curves would bring out those sunset colors and make this image stand out. As is, its a 6 but could easily be an 8.

Wonderful. I like how you've included the foreground tree in the composition, while keeping it in focus and not overwhelming the image. That is a very, very difficult thing to do. Likewise, the tone range is superb, and the radiant lighting looks excellent--9
