whispers and giggles by ursulaComment: What a wonderful story being told here! Congrats on third place! Definately should be in an "emotive" gallery. |

Age & Beautyby TerryGeeComment: Hi Terry!
Critique Club:
This is an interesting piece to view, Terry. The tones are nice. The focus could be improved, but other wise the lighting and interest level are good.
The wood table, however, seems to detract from the overall composition.

Concrete Christby davidspyleComment: critique club:
the inclusion of the part of the building on the right causing the eye to go vertical is a distraction, because of the vertical, and because it is brighter than the subject. However, the lighting does create a nice effect on the arms of the figure of Christ. Perhaps cropping out the left side or having eliminating it during the shoot would have enhanced the effect.
The tonalities are smooth and even otherwise lending to a peaceful feeling that is in sharp contrast to the suffering in the figure.

Wildflowerby BudweezerComment: critique club:
initial: a bit dark, but I like the textures.
composition/technical: I like how the front leaf leads in at an angle, and how the leaves seems to direct your attention to the flower... but still my eyes keep going back to the leaf. The detail there is great, and seems in more focus than the bloom. dof is done well, but either the image was initially dark, or it was over post processed and made dark, or underprocessed, and not brightened...
I am being nitpicky here, but that is what I see.
Overall, it is a nice image with limited long term appeal.
