Oklahoma Sunsetby postoakinversionComment: Very impressive with the volumetric lighting. Excellent details even in the clouds. I think it would look better if the ground was cropped a bit more to allow more emphasis on the sun and sky. I also seems the horizon line is not 100% straight but if the ground really is that way, it can't be helped so I won't deduct for that. 7 |

Fire extinguisherby MrAkamaiComment: Thanks to everyone who voted on my entry. I'd like to address some issues that were raised.
1. The distortion that some people mentioned is (most likely) barrel distortion which is a serious issue with the 717.
2. This was taken straight on but the camera was tilted on its side on a tripod.
3. The text on the extinguisher label is small and this was taken at a distance of approximately 20 feet.
4. The border color is not actually pink but a sampled color off either the extingisher or the red background, I can't remember. Then I set opacity to 30%. On my screen it looks red so maybe color space or gamma is different on others' monitors. That's the only explanation I can come up with at the moment.
People seemed about 50/50 on the darkness I gave this photo. I chose to darken a bit because the texture just wasn't there with the default levels. I think if I left levels as is, people would comment that it was overexposed. I used all natural light and the light was actually green since the skylight above the area has green glass. This was taken around 5pm which explains the length and intensity of the shadows.
I really enjoyed reading all the comments everyone left and thanks again! :) |

New reflections on my vacationby ccraftComment: This is simply amazing. You were VERY lucky to get the water as still as it is in the photo. On top of that, you have perfect reflections of the sky and mountains. I am jealous I can't get images like this. :) 10 |

Behind the Green Fenceby ccaseyComment: These dogs are co cute! They remind me of my sister's dogs. I really like the green fence as a frame for their faces. The bottom looks like the camera was not level when this was shot but the left side vertical portion looks truly vertical so I guess we can chalk it up to fence craftsmanship not photographer error. :) Exposure looks good, focus is a bit soft but I really love the application of DOF to blur the background doggie. Good job!

A little wild violetby vtruanComment: Either the focus is a bit off or it's compression. Great colors and saturation and the composition is also very good. The background (brown branch) could have been blurred a bit more but it's not overly distracting in it's current state as the bright color of the flowers really grab one's attention. |

Aloneby cimarron98Comment: Lots of compression artifacts distract me from fully enjoying this photo. It does look like you tried to do a soft focus and it would look very good without the excessive compression. The sky is a very deep blue and I like that. |

something MOOby isobelComment: LOL! This is a great shot of a cow. Looks a bit oversharpened. There also seems to be a purple tint to the image. |

Fire Waterby sevenine0Comment: Good application of negative space. The bird in the foreground is blurry. I assumed that was the main focus point and if so, it should be sharply focused. |

Warming Upby cmberghoutComment: "What did you do this weekend, Bob?"
"Oh, not much. Just kicked back."
Sorry, just had to do that. :) Great action shot but it's too centered. If you left some negative space in front of the horse it would make a huge improvement. |

Mosquito Heavenby ladpupmoeComment: Good application of DOF. Does the leaf really look like that? It looks like it's out of focus but the mosquito isn't. |
