On Edgeby crabappl3Comment: Greetings from the CC, what a delicate subject you have chosen! The monochromatic feel IMO certainly gives a simplicity and a focus to the bubbles. The sharpness of the foreground bubble is excellent, demonstrated in the clarity of the window reflection, a lovely detail that I am glad was lefy in the shot. The composition is also delightful the lower bubble behind and the amount of emptiness in the top half of the shot work very well together to be pleasing. I like the sharp bubble being on the left (vs. right often where 'focus' is). Mostly the solid blue background and the disappearing bubble in the back really do add a feeling of depth to your photo..which is exactly IMO what the challenge asks for... well done, and glad the voters rewarded you accordingly..keep shooting! |

Nature's work of art!by trainComment: Hi greetings from the CC, well you did a fabulous job on the mushroom in this shot!! Voters did not seem to mind that that DOF was minimal in the background. The DOF is certainly well contrasted with the extreme sharpness of this well composed mushroom. Just because your comment suggests uncertainty about DOF, it is achieved by aperatures being low numbers i.e. 4.5 will give you a very shallow DOF and 22 will give you more focus both in fore and backgrounds. Manual focussing I find helps to highlight the subject of your choice in focus. Hope that helps, you seemed to 'get it' without needing the tech explanation on your own...keep up the good work... oh and the lighting in this shot is very good, excellent detail! |

Behind the Eight Ball...by txphotogirlComment: Hi greetings from the CC, a good idea for the challenge, it is well composed. The eight ball should probably be better focused for a precise DOF shot. The lighting will works, may be a little more interesting if it were slightly more subtle. What I do like however is the shadow of the 8 ball.
It is also curious to me that the balls do not seem to be on a pool table?
If you want to achieve sharpness next time I find manual focusing really helps as does adjusting your aperature settings til you get one that works. With these settings you can achieve much more control over your shot. On still life shots I often take many, download them and check what works and doesn't and then re-shoot from what I learned in first batch, just an idea... keep up the shooting : ) |

Skin Deep by moodvilleComment: This is one ugly sucker..lol but boy does he have textures, and it is a very well done shot, my only slight critique would be the black area is lacking in detail, of course very hard to get detail in black. My favorite shot I think in the challenge, good luck..great color and DOF too |

Let me GO:by oksamitComment: Aww, what a cutie, very good job, I love that you have a 'friend squirrel' watching in the background. Thats a pretty high fence to must have some quality nuts on the other side waiting for him... : )
Well done! In my top 3. |

Goodbye Old Friendby lykofosComment: Good use of sepia tones, very well done and interesting image, I like the black glove and the simplicity of the cross...the icy scene adds to the feeling of loss. |

Aqua Vitaby labudsComment: Quite clever, what is that line in the background? Table edge? |

Fire and Iceby bjallenComment: I find the lower half of your shot really beautiful, I wish that this area was the majority (or all of the shot somehow leaving out the other aspects). Granted this would probably need to be shot from a different vantage point to make it work, Overall very nice. |

Harness the Skyby QuadrajetComment: I find the hazy feel at the bottom really enhances your shot, well captured. My only little critique is that dark object in fron of the biggest windmill is a little distracting. |
