The birds here don't contrast sufficiently with the background to provide a great point of interest. Having said that you've done very well to get them in focus and relatively sharp.

I recognise this location! I can't work out whether or not the model adds to or detracts from the shot, possibly the latter. Our eyes are drawn instinctively under the arch and I think she is a bit of a distraction. Exposure is perfect.

The DOF is absolutely spot-on and I love the way the other side of the leaf ends up being in focus. You need to watch those highlights though - the white bits on the fly's body are just a bit too blown out.

A pretty shot with great DOF and composition. It does lack the 'wow' factor required to do seriously well in a free study though methinks.
