A Clockwork Orangeby WindtaleComment: Too contrived for my liking but I can't fault it photographically - the lighting is good and it's a great conversion. Nicely done. |

Blissby pita2goComment: Pure joy. Could do with a little sharpening but a super photo, well converted. |

Redby YoungerComment: I don't believe that portraits necessarily have to show the subject's face (there are some excellent examples of back-of-head shots on DPC) but I do think that where you're going to break from the norm and go for something different, you need to have an artistic reason for doing so - in other words you need to communicate something when deliberately not showing the face. This to me, if I'm honest, just looks like a snapshot of the back of someone's head and as such does not work well as a portrait. |

C-mon, have a smoke!by edmengComment: Really interesting choice of subject and a good, edgy composition. Black and white conversion is a little on the flat side and could do with some more contrast. |

Smiling Eyesby TannisComment: The lighting is not ideal here but you've captured a great expression which really seems to tell the viewer a lot about this man's character. Well done. |

Self Portraitby ShugPugComment: Not a huge fan of the white background but the lighting is good. I'm not getting much of a connection with the subject's blank expression, which is something I think is necessary with a good portrait. |

Avedon Inspirationby cyclingtmbComment: The lighting here is a bit too flat for the black and white conversion to work successfully. For me, the subject is a bit too detached for this to work well as a portrait. |

2by RKTComment: This is really excellent stuff with a very good conversion - just be careful on the white side of the histogram as the whites to the right look a wee bit blown out and it's a bit of a distraction. But a completely charming portrait with superb control of DoF. |
