I figured out what this was right away looking at it again now. Yes, you're right, a rear-curtain flash would really help. However rather than taking 100 shots or maybe 1000 if you're trying to get the exact timing of the rear flash you could fake it like others have and have the ball stationary on the line at the start of a long exposure and jerk it away with monofilament.

I don't know what this is, and the title doesn't help. It looks like a reflection of something. It's not very sharp. However I'll give it points for meeting the challenge.

Nice picture, but I would not call a single line the main subject. The bridge connects the Lincoln memorial and Washington monument, but it's too dim to stand out as the main subject.

Very high definition shot. Not a very long road line, but a very strong image that you may not have been able to get on a longer stretch of road.
