No telescopes in this photo. This is camera, tripod, and zoom lens. Boy, I wish I had a telescope.
The haze from all the humidity really made a difference in the clarity. Here is another photo I took some time ago without so much haze.

I also like shooting the moon when it is not full. When there is an event horizon along the surface, it really shows off the detail in the craters.
BTW, it was shot in color. The problem was it was too warm as the moon has a rather yellow incandescent look to it at the angle it was shot. When importing into Photoshop, I lowered the photo's temp a bit.
Any season but summer can yield some pretty clear conditions in North Carolina. I'd really like to give it a try from Grandfather Mountain.

Contactby LimescopeComment: I would have liked to seen it from greater distance / wider angle. Open up the frame a big and not crop the dishes. Keep the dishes in the bottom right 3rd maybe. Not sure if that was possible. To me the dishes are not as interesting as the contrast between the trees and sky. |
