Thank you for your kind words about my heron.... I get so close by waiting for hours - have spent 5+ hours one time to get the shot I wanted..... I go to a lagoon close to my home and if I see him fishing off in the distance I stake out a place where I have seen him in the past and I don't move. Sometimes he flys there and sometimes I get stiff and sore for no reason but the only way I know to get a close up of a heron is to have patience and be able to sit without too much wiggling :) - hope that helps and good luck on capturing them... they are so beautiful

I am so glad that your photo wasn't DQ'ed.... I would never have gotten the chance to see it... When I first looked at this shot, before reading anything, it looked like a magnificant paintbruch creating a magnificant work of art..... this is such an amazing shot that I just look at it in awe..... so stunning - if i were to have voted on it, I would give it 10++++
