World’s Largest Canoe Races Comes to Kona Each Septemberby scottwilsonComment: I'd love to see this race. :) Looks like there are some blown highlites in this. We are also too far away to see the energy of the event. If you are using a dSLR, then I'd suggest a better lens. If you are using a point and shoot, then get closer. :) In this type of event, part of the fun is the energy. That said, it does meed the travel guide feel. 6 |

Exotic & romantic: giant Galapagos turtles of the Philadelphia Zoo.by redpandaComment: The more I look at this shot the more I like it. I like the choice of black and white. I love the element of one tortise peeking into the shell of the other. For this particular challenge, it's a strong shot- but doesn't say travel guide. That in no way, shape or form makes it any less interesting. Solid DOD and good composition make this a very good image. I see this as something that can end up on a greeting card. :) 7 for this challenge, 9 just on merit. :) |

Hurricane Seasonby PerezDesignGroupComment: Wow! I love the grain in this shot. Hope you were somewhere safe. This would be a reason not to go to Florida methinks. Classic looking storm shot though. 8 |

Street Shoppingby KaveyComment: The image is a little hot, but this is still fun. :) Excellent repeating patterns. I'd drop the exposure about a half stop next time. 5 |

Texas Highwaysby L1Comment: This explains much. Obviously Texans use roads as photographic props and not places to drive. ;) I like the cloudline, and the color is good. My major problem is the placement of the road. It ends up dividing the lower thrid of the image in half. It just bugs me. You have a great thrids thing going all the way through (top third blue, next is the cloud layer, then the road/grass) . |
