A Tree Grows In Texasby jerseyjimComment: To begin with this looks like a black and white shot, but I see the sunset tones at the bottom, so I know it's not! The tree is good as a silhouette. I think the clouds are interesting, but for some reason (and this is only in my view) they seem to detract from the shot slightly... maybe it's the fact that they alsmost seem embossed. |

Rose Branch in the Rainby MaryOComment: Wonderful abstract, the in-focus part of the photo is excellent. It shows the best of the rose branch in colour and texture, and this is accentuated by the rain drops. You were right to choose a black background.
I think you will lose points for the graininess in the top right hand corner of the picture. Some graininess/noise is good if executed correctly, but I do feel there is too much noise and colour pollution in this particular shot. |

Tap Danceby MistyMuckyComment: I bet he was fast! This is a good crisp, in focus shot. You did well. The textures in the sand are good too, and the rock adds something compositionally to the photo. |

Tossedby lovethelightComment: I like this shot, especially her pose. And the model has very delicate features. I don't think the lighting is quite right though and this does have an effect on the overall shot. Also, her hand is too close to the top of the frame which makes the composition seem a bit squiffy. I love the black and white tones and the focus. |

Till Death Do Us Apartby hlinnetComment: This is a creative take on the challenge, which is to be admired. I like the black and white as I think emotive portraits such as this are better in black and white tones. However, I do feel that the contrast could have been less so and the shot brightned up a bit. Not sure about the circular shadowing at the top either. Good focus. |

Preludeby hazeComment: A lovely baby shot. I think the black background was the right choice and the placement of the baby within the shot is good compostionally. I do think that the reds could have been toned down though, and that it may have been a stronger piece as a black and white portrait. |

Wild Red-Shouldered Hawk, Juvenileby jrjrComment: This is a good crisp shot. What I like most about it is his expression. He seems to be almost peeking at the viewer.
The focus is spot on and the border not too imposing. |

Nice shot! |
