When I found out that I was going to have an opportunity to do a photoshoot with my friend Kalyn. again, I got very excited. I haven't shot her since I went to visit NY during an internship the summer of 07. I have been wanting to experiment with more jumping shots, and she had the perfect skill set and body for that kind of photography. We did not have a whole lot of time to figure out the concept, but this was one of my favorite jumping shots she did. I am interested to see how people react, as the pose is a bit off and she is looking directly into the camera. Her face displays a mixture of emotions that I can't quite read, while her body flies with a sense of abandon. I am happy with the result. This has not been rotated, this is the exact pose angle that she created in the air. I would not have cropped in so tightly on the top if that hadn't been the original framing of the image, since she was jumping it was hard to get the shot wide enough with the 50mm that I didn't have something that was tight on the edges, and in this case it was her hand. Viewers may end up comparing this one to "Plunge" which is a similar shot. When I compared them I saw elegant ambiguity in the air, in contrast to "Plunge" which shows much more extreme emotion in a position that implies a stronger sense of motion.

Very different outtake:

Hope she didn't bump her heap on the top of the frame. :P
Terrific, classic-Claire-style image. Well done.

It's a good thing her right arm is not going up - then she would be in the shape of a nazi swastika! Anyway, she certainly is 'Alive' and the photographic quality is perfect. Not one of my favorites but I can't vote it anything less then 10.

This reminds me of lovethelight's "Fallen" shot. I like the expressions on her face.

I like this shot, especially her pose. And the model has very delicate features. I don't think the lighting is quite right though and this does have an effect on the overall shot. Also, her hand is too close to the top of the frame which makes the composition seem a bit squiffy. I love the black and white tones and the focus.

Love the light and the portrait. Not sure the posed posture matches the title - which suggests something more random to me. 7

Nice idea, but the pose seems a bit awkward and her feet are blurry

Interesting!! A bit too tightly cropped at the top in my opinion, but a good photo.

Wow this is quite interesting and unique. I'm left to wonder ... how did you do this, is she laying on a white background?

Very cool. Her arms look like they are in a little unnatural positions.
