Weathered Stoneby smittyComment: Good idea and nice lighting, but I'd prefer more drama in the composition (not that it's always easy...) |

Sunset Skylineby AzrifelComment: Very nice use of duo-tone, or maybe that really was the color of the sky? Love the subtle texture either way. 8 |

Through That Valley and Over Those Mountains...by EmerauldeComment: I'm a sucker for simple abstract shots, and it doesn't get any better than this: just four simple shapes, yet the subject is immediatly obvious. The soft focus and B&W helps the abstraction, and the ever so slightly asymmetric lighting adds interest. 10 |

Dancing Softlyby paganiniComment: I'll ignore the obvious lack of soft focus, since you'll undoubtedly get lots of comments on that. The two birds are so interesting that you may want to focus the attention on them by cropping out some of the others. Personally, I'd get rid of all but the three closest to the sun, but there are other less drastic options too. Also, straighen that horizon! Finally, after the challenge, a bit of spot-editing to remove the glare would be worth while. This has the makings of a fabulous photo! |

Tasting Redby jackditchComment: A brilliant idea for a photo, but I think the wet gloss would work much better if it were tack-sharp, rather than in soft focus. Great potential, but wrong challenge! 5 |

Last Bloom of Summerby muckpondComment: Nice lighting and composition, but try as I might, I can't figure out how this is supposed to convey a feeling of surprise |

Soar IIby shareinncComment: Great use of color and silhoutte. The water surface looks strange (over-saturated?), but I'm not sure how you'd fix that without spot-editing. Connection to this challenge is subtle to say the least, but the photo certainly deserves to be seen. |
