Remember you can hand hold if your shutter speed if it is faster than the inverse of your focal length, in this case 300mm so 1/300th of a second. Of course if you were on the shorter end of that (75mm) you could use a shutter speed of about 1/80th of a second or so.

You could also have simply used a tripod but it sounds like this was a "found shot" so you may not have had your tripod handy.


Thank you for your comments. I am learning a lot here at DPC and appreciate all the comments I can get. This particular photo was taken from inside the car, and it was running. It was raining pretty good and I didn't want to get my camera wet. I should have changed my settings. Thank you again! Jerry
