Racing on frozen lake at 8500' elevation.by cathysappComment: Wonderful shot! Only complaint/suggestion I have is that I think you should have maybe slowed down the shutter speed a little to show the speed that is there. At this setting, except for the snow/ice coming off of the tires it looks as if they were parked.
Very nice shot, but it could have more impact!
Again, wonderful Shot! |

fruit and vegetables tooby charliebakerComment: I think you could have made this with a little more contrast or shadow to bring out the chess pieces more. They seem to recede into the picture instead of being a main focal point. I am not sure HOW I would have done this picture in as small of a space as a freezer, but maybe without the full wattage of the fridge light and maybe a small spot on the chess pieces.... I don't know. I like the idea of the shot... just a litle too washed out for my tastes. Nice thought though! |

Shot of Ice!by PearlyComment: too dark for my taste although what I do see is nicely situated in the frame and clear of focus. My problem with this is that if you didn't tell us ice was int eh glass, I would have had to guess. Try using just a small bit of light to help define all the items present, even if you want the picture to have dark overtones. Something soft. Even if you don't have the expensive lights and covers and filters and such, you can improvise. I have many times used table lamps, reading lights and so on either by themselves or with a cloth draped over the bulb. In this case... maybe a 7 watt night light with a white t-shirt draped over it might get the subtlety you were shooting for, and the clarification of the contents I would like.
Nice photo otherwise! |
