Fading Memoriesby bananashayComment: Cute concept. My eye keeps being drawn to the boat and fence in the distance which don't have anything to do with this image. |

Peacefull Trafficby dfleisComment: This a very interesting composition. I enjoy the placement of the women to the extreme right of the frame. Her hat makes a very pleasing curve. The colors are lovely--the pale blue of the hat and her warm brown skin contrasting with the white tank top. Sadly, this doesn't illustrate a vanishing point to me. There is a horizon line, yes, but I'm loking for parallel lines converging at a point, real or imaginary, in the distance, and I don't see that here.
To further simplify this composition, I would suggest cropping out the area of cliffs that can be seen at the left of the frame. |

Vanish To The Mountainby midnightride2Comment: A nice idea and a pretty scene. The lighting is a bit bland. If you can ajdust your EV setting to bracket exposures, you should try a -EV setting to get a bit more contrast in the play of light and shadow. |

Plant Hallby tyt2000Comment: I like this, although I would have cropped out the ceiling, either at some point just before the first light, or at the point where the ceiling and wall meet above the pillars. |

Canberran Outbackby romeyrComment: I'm looking for parallel lines converging at a point somewhere in the distance. I don't see that in this photo. The image is a bit dark and lacking in contrast to make out much detail. |

... Trough The Seaby empauloComment: You should have adjusted the tilted horizon line in post-processing (this is allowed in the Basic Editing rules). Also, I would have cropped a good chunk of the bottom of the image, perhaps at the point where we can no longer see the rock wall, since not much is going on after that. |

American Barnby KaDiComment: This isn't really working to illustrate a vanishing point. The only lines that are actually converging, are actually converging physically in space. It should be an optical illusion, not a physical reality. The lines int he shutter aren't shown at a dramatic enough angle for them to appear to converge. |

It happens everydayby Prime_TimeComment: This is illustrating a horizon line but not a vanishing point. Yes, the sun is a vanishing point but there is nothing else in the photo to illustrate that concept. I'm looking for parallel lines converging at an invisible point in the distance. I don't see that here. |

The Speed Of Lightby philthComment: It took me awhile to see the vanishing point, or in this case points, in this photo. I'm not sure this is exactly right because a vanishing point is an optical illusion and in this case of fireworks, the the streams of sparks are actually going off in different directions from a starting point. Not really the same thing. The purpose of a vanishing point is to create a sense of three-dimensional space. In drawing, the artist has to figure out where the vanishing point is and draw the parallel lines converging to that point to re-create what the eye sees in real life. In photography, it is more of a matter of photographing the scene from a POV which shows the illusion of the parallels converging.
A view of fireworks in the sky doesn't really illustrate this concept very well. |
